Where & When?
Curling is a winter sport! We usually run our season from late February until November each year. Curling sessions are at: ‘Iceworld’, 2304 Sandgate Rd, Boondall, QLD 4034.
We run our sessions on Thursday evenings, from 7:45 pm to 9:45 pm. There are occasions when we do not hold our sessions on a regular Thursday, so review “Events” for upcoming curling opportunities, and/or reach out to us at president.queenslandcurling@gmail.com if you are interested in coming along.
How Do I Participate?
Come and & Try - If you have never curled before, than we recommend come join us in a Come & Try event. These 2-hour sessions are facilitated by existing members. A participant will receive basic instructions in how to play, etiquette and terminology. Followed by on ice participation in sliding, sweeping and rock delivery. All these newly acquired skills are followed by a short game. If this sounds interesting, please to go to "Events" to sign up to any upcoming Come & Try events. No membership required.
Substitute for a League Player – If you have previously participated in a Come and Try event, and still not sure about becoming a member, then sign up for a “Substitute for League Player” event. There are often players that cannot make every league game. By participating in this event, you will be a member of the team requiring a spare for the evening. If enjoyed this experience, then please signup to be become a league member.
Become a Member – Becoming a member opens the door to additional curling experiences. Membership is required for curling competitions, single evening social curling events, and regular substitution for a league player in competitions. Membership provides required insurances, and for the club to exist and continue to creating curling experiences for all.
- Competitions – QCA usually runs 3 competitions a year. Depending on the number of teams (of 4 people) participating, each competition usually involves around 6 to 10 sessions of curling, including a round robin, and playoff.
- Social Evenings – QCA intents to host more single evening curling events throughout the year. Watch the Events calendar to participate.
- Substitute for League Player – Can not commit to an entire competition, but still like to curl on ad hoc basis, then watch and signup to single Substitute for League Player events.
